Back to the RIGHT coast and such…

April 15th, 2008

Well…I have been a TERRIBLE blogger lately. So here goes a quick rundown for you few that actually care:

Amanda and I have moved back to Wilmington, NC. Austin was a very cool city, but just not for us. No ocean/surf was really getting to us more than we thought. So, long story short, we basically said, “Money is nice, but I would rather make a bit less, and be able to surf everyday.” Some say crazy, but whatev…

I took a job with a local company called Castle Branch. I will be doing some programming for those guys. Hopefully things will be awesome. We shall see. Starting next tuesday.

I recently designed a pro kayaking video website which was pretty fun.  You can check out Rapid Transit Video, and see some pretty freaking crazy kayaking goodness.  Was a fun project, and I thank Spencer Cooke for the work, and his patience with some hosting problems we went through early on.

I need to get off my ass and redesign this website.  I have so many good ideas, but I am so busy right now with the move, that I can’t seem to get ahead.  Ah well…hopefully soon.

We are living with our friend Jennifer for the time being. She is a very awesome friend, and we are very grateful to her for letting us stay. Love you Jennifer.

As for Amanda…she has some pieces in an upcoming fashion show here in downtown Wilmington. Should be awesome. her new stuff is AMAZING. I can’t wait to see them on the runway.

Anyway…wish us luck, and as always, if you need some handy dandy web design…hit me up!

Love:

Kevin

Twitter-iffic?

February 8th, 2008

Well. I joined Twitter, and so far I like it. It’s actually quite an interesting concept really.

At first, Twitter seemed like another lame 2.0 app that to me really had no reason to exist. I mean who in their right mind wants everyone to know what they are doing at any given second, and on top of that, you actually have to be narcissistic enough to think anyone actually cares. Well, I was right, but I was also very wrong.

Twitter is quite the growing phenomenon, and it’s hard to explain. I guess it really isn’t any different than IM’ng, blogging, or social networking when you get down to it, but Twitter is quicker. It allows you to jot down a quick note, and everyone you are friends with can see it at the same time, almost instantly…And that’s what we are all looking for in this Web 2.0 world right? Instant information. Twitter forces you to be concise (140 characters or less), and for some, including myself, that can be hard to do.

As for features, Twitter is pretty streamline, and to the point. Phone, and IM integration is very nice, and the ability to make things private (for friends only) or public is also nice for those who are a bit protective about their goings on. A bit of advice…If you don’t have unlimited texting on your phone…just say “NO!!” to the Phone option.

As for uses, there are more and more springing up all the time. Businesses are using it to keep up with what their employees are doing, news agencies are using it, etc… As for me, I just use it as a quicker form of IM’ing, mini-blogging, link passing, and for comic relief. The people I tend to follow are wise asses ;)

Twitter also seems to be quite the ‘Equalizer,’ so to speak. What I mean by that is, I am following quite a few people I highly respect in the industry, and while I have never met these people, I feel like if we meet in person, I won’t feel like I have never met them. Odd really…but true. Stephanie Sullivan of W3Conversions, does a better job of explaining this than I do over at her blog, and aslo has a pretty cool new users tutorial that goes along with it.

Well, that’s about it really. While I don’t think Twitter is a huge Godsend of an application…it is pretty cool. I definitely will continue using it, and if you want to follow me (I have no idea why…but I am pretty damn funny!), http://twitter.com/kdeleon

Happy Twittering…(That’s for Abraham..he HATES it when I turn things into verbs).

Holy Crap!

Seems as though Nikon has thrown down the gauntlet so to speak…This thing is a beast… As my friend Eric Sutherland would say…it’s on like Donkey Kong….well….he’s not the only one who says it…but he said it recently…to me anyway…
