Me...All About Me.

My name is Kevin deLeon. The story of my life is quite inconsequential really... (ok bad Austin Powers reference). I really dig this web development stuff. I started about 8 years ago, and man has it grown. I think we are entering a time when all things web design/development are getting really exciting. I am super stoked to be a part of it in some small way. With the growth of internet based businesses, and web based applications, this whole interweb thingy is changing our lives. Skynet has become self-aware...wait...bad Terminator reference.

A Bit About My Past.

• I was born in Bogalusa, LA in 1979
• Grew up in Louisiana..I love Louisiana
• Attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA
• Obtained a BS in Computer Information Systems in 2002
• Moved to Wilmington NC
• Learned to Surf. Love to Surf. Live to Surf.
• Moved to Austin to join the team at Austin Community College.

Where I Am Now

So here I am. I am a Systems Administrator (Web/Streaming Media) at Austin Community College in Austin, TX. I am responsible for the design, maintenance, template design, web graphics, and tons of other stuff you can read about in my resume, if it so interests you, for the department of Instructional Resources and Technology's website.

I also administer our streaming media servers.

Stuff I Like.

I love music. I love to surf, I love photography, and I love to create.

Music.

I have a HUGE collection of music. Everything from Chase Pagan, and Miles Davis to Poison the Well, and the Refused. I used to be in a band called plugg in Ruston, LA. We rocked it like it was supposed to be rocked. I miss playing live. I want another band...join me won't you?

Surfing.

I started surfing with my wife Amanda about 5 years ago. I know this is a totally hippie thing to say, but it changed my life. If you have never tried...do. The surfing community in Wilmington, and the surrounding area, is amazing. They are some of the most giving. and caring people I have ever met. I have yet to visit the elusive green room, but I plan to soon. I want to go to Costa Rica reeeeeeeaaaaally bad.

Photography.

I started shooting seriously about 3 years ago thanks to my friend Eric Sutherland. I love it. There isn't much on this planet that I would rather do. You can see some of my work at Kevin deLeon Photography. The blog on that site actually stays more up-to-date than the webiste itself. I am also a member at DPChallenge where I have successfully won one ribbon. If you aren't a member...you have no idea what an honor that is to me...haha. There are some TALENTED folks on that site. I will win a blue!!

I Love to Create.

I love the feeling I get when I finish something, whether it be a wedding shoot, a new website, or a nifty web app. I used to love to draw when I was a kid, and build forts for my GI Joes. I guess web development kind of combines both...sort of...I don't really know where I was going with that.
